Infographic: Holiday Meal and Gift Shopping Trends
Shoppers remain price-conscious, but still have generous hosting and gifting plans this holiday season, according to Breaktime Media.
Breaktime surveyed shoppers on their holiday traditions, including meal spending, what they're buying and from where. Grocery stores are by far the most popular place for survey respondents to shop for holiday meal needs. Walmart and warehouse club stores come in second and third, respectively.
When selecting important factors for their holiday meal, 22% chose cost, 21% selected flavor and 14% picked ingredients.
At least 33% of those surveyed shop at Amazon for holiday gifts, followed by 17% at Walmart, 8% at small businesses and 5% at Target.
Beyond practical and useful items, 18% of respondents prefer to gift sentimental or personalized items, 10% like gifting experiences and 10% prefer giving luxury or splurge items.
