Wawa, Walgreens Get Exclusive 'Share a Coke' Promotions
What’s new: Wawa and Walgreens received exclusive overlays as Coca-Cola Co. activated its national “Share a Coke” campaign.
What we saw: A floorstand at Wawa offered two of the Share a Coke 20-ounce bottles for $4.25 and carried a QR code that links to a promotional page for entry into a sweepstakes awarding three winners trips to Los Angeles for a Coke-themed experience.
A standee positioned in the parking lot supported the campaign. The promotion also featured an instant-win game awarding three gaming consoles and 50 store gift cards, each valued at $50. Melville, New York-based Don Jagoda Associates administered the campaign.
At Walgreens, a sign on an endcap stocking Coca-Cola’s Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite and Fanta dangled an exclusive “Share a Coke with Mom” Mother’s Day bottle with the purchase of three 20-ounce bottles from March 31 to May 11. A QR code linked to ShareaCokeWithMom.com, where shoppers could upload a receipt to redeem the offer.
Additional support: The Share a Coke tour visited a Wawa in St. Johns, Florida, on May 23, offering shoppers the chance to customize Coca-Cola slim cans. The May tour from Coca-Cola Beverages Florida also stopped at Winn-Dixie, 7-Eleven and Walmart stores.
Walgreens plugged the Mother’s Day promotion and the national campaign with paid Facebook and Instagram posts.
