Metro Launches Moi Loyalty Program in Ontario
Metro Inc. launched its Moi loyalty program in Ontario this month.
As of Oct. 24, enrolled shoppers collect points on purchases at the Canadian retailer’s Metro, Food Basics and Jean Coutu banners in the province.
Metro first released a refreshed Moi program in Quebec and New Brunswick in 2023, following that up last April with news that it would soon go wider.
The program is available across eight banners and more than 1,175 stores in New Brunswick, Ontario and Quebec.
Moi delivers personalized offers, opportunities to earn extra points, and special offers for members.
Once customers accumulate at least 500 points, which amounts to 4 Canadian dollars, they can begin to redeem them on in-store purchases. Shoppers don’t need to redeem the points in preset tiers; once a set amount builds up they can redeem them in increments of one Canadian dollar.
"Our goal is to help Canadians save by becoming the most personalized and relevant loyalty program. … With base points, bonus points and RBC as a strategic partner, we intend to offer our customers a generous, personalized and compelling program that combines food and pharmacy, deepens our relationship with customers and contributes to their well-being," Alain Tadros, vice president and chief marketing officer and digital strategy at Metro, said in a release.
The Royal Bank of Canada's (RBC) Avion Rewards credit card has become the program's core loyalty partner. Members to earn extra rewards on purchases made with a linked RBC debit or credit card, which can then be redeemed at all Metro banners taking part in the rewards program in Ontario, Quebec and New Brunswick.
A 2024 Leger Wow Survey ranked Moi as the most widely used loyalty program in Quebec, with 79% of Metro shoppers actively engaging with the program.
