Sportano, a digital-native sporting goods brand and startup, opened its first physical store in late 2022 in Warsaw, Poland, where the company is based.

The experiential flagship store was designed in partnership with London-based brand innovation studio Dalziel & Pow (D&P).

D&P and Sportano aimed to create a large showroom experience that also supports the sports brand’s online fulfillment services,by adding buy online, pick up in-store and in-store ordering options, according to a recent media release shared with the Path to Purchase Institute.

The store offers a range of products for outdoor, cycling, soccer, winter and water sports as well as other team sports and technology items, from small accessories to large-scale equipment.

The space offers a variety of “test-and-trial” experiences and services, such as bike fitting and servicing, equipment rental and repair, outdoor activities and a compact cafe aimed at increasing customer dwell time, per the release.

The store offers a tech-enabled experience, including electronic price labels with scannable QR codes for more product information as well as slew of digital screens (with seating) throughout the space to explore the endless aisle online.

D&P calls the flagship store’s design “robust” with an almost “factory feel.” It leverages interactive, environmental and promotional digital messaging to supports the brand story and customer journey.

“We created the ‘Experience Vision’ and designed all aspects of the customer journey, planning, store environment, and in-store brand communications,” according to the release from D&P, which has also created experiences for Johnnie Walker, Guinness, Toyota and Molton Brown, among others.
