Loblaw Companies has introduced a new Fresh Promise program at several of its banners, where it will replace and issue a refund for fresh produce if shoppers have issues with the product.

The plan is being rolled out to its Loblaws, Independent, Valu-Mart and Zehrs locations.

Customers who are not satisfied with produce bought in-store or online can have it replaced and get a refund within seven days, with no questions asked.

"We want customers to walk out of our stores every day feeling like they got the right value for them, and our stores across the province have doubled down on this commitment, with some exciting new programs," Frank Gambioli, president, Loblaw Super Market division, said in a release. "We know how much freshness and quality plays into value, and the Fresh Promise means that Canadians shopping in Loblaw grocery stores can be confident in the produce they are buying."

Shoppers must present the item and original receipt at the store where the purchase was made.
