Canadian Tire Corp. (CTC) and Petro-Canada have opened their first Petro-Canada retail fuel site.

The Kitchener, Ontario, station marks the first rebrand of more than 200 planned Canadian Tire Gas+ conversions over the next few years, Petro-Canada announced in a LinkedIn post. The rebrand is the result of the companies' partnership, first announced in May 2023.

The Petro-Canada station has a new look and name, but Canadian Tire's Gas+ retail fuel customers can still use their Canadian Tire Triangle Rewards memberships to keep earning Canadian Tire Money at both Petro-Canada and Gas+ sites across the country.

Canadian Tire said the partnership would “drive additional value for millions of loyalty members, establish a competitive fuel source for CTC and long-term fuel supply arrangement for Suncor, and increase the presence of Petro-Canada branded stations across the country.”

"Through this new partnership, Canadian Tire Corporation will expand the reach of our Triangle Rewards program from over 200 gas stations to a network of more than 1,800, driving enhanced value for Canadians at the pumps by providing more opportunities for members to earn CT Money in a high-frequency category," said Greg Hicks, president and CEO, Canadian Tire Corporation, at the time of the partnership’s announcement. "This is yet another way we're creating valuable relationships through the power of Triangle, which is a key component of our growth strategy."

CTC will maintain ownership of the rebranded stations.
