Brands Play Rock, Paper, Scissors With Circle K Canada
What’s new: Circle K Canada united 11 brands this summer for a “Rock Paper Prizes” instant-win game and sweepstakes that aimed to boost engagement with the retailer.
Where shoppers get value: Shoppers could play the Rock, Paper, Scissors game at RockPaperPrizes.com and enter the sweeps three times per day from July 22 to Sept. 15, earning additional entries for opting into emails and SMS, watching ads, referring friends and following Circle K on social media.
The sweeps awarded three winners 25,000 Canadian dollars along with 894 other prizes, including AirPods Max and CA$5,000 or CA$10,000 Circle K gift cards. The game had more than 2 million prizes including fuel discounts and free SKUs from participating brands, including Red Bull, PepsiCo’s Rockstar and Coca-Cola Co.’s Fanta. BrandMobile Aps, Copenhagen, Denmark, administered the promotion.
What we saw: In stores, a cooler cling used QR codes to link to the campaign page and spotlighted deals on participating brands, including Nutrabolt’s C4, Mas+ Next Generation Beverage’s flagship, PepsiCo’s Celsius, and Coca-Cola Co.’s Fuze Iced Tea.
Prime Hydration and Grupo Bimbo's Takis Duo, which provided BOGO offers and free SKUs as instant-win prizes, received secondary placement on floorstands during the campaign.
Additional support: Circle K Canada plugged the game on Facebook and Instagram.
More context: "Rock Paper Prizes" has been running annually since 2021 and is one of the retailer’s most popular promotions. "It's a fun, nostalgic way for us to connect with our customers year after year and offer incredible value," Alissa Woo, Circle K marketing director, Canada, said in a statement.
