Walgreens Rewards Shoppers for Purchases
What’s New: Walgreens is heavily promoting deals on OTC and vitamin brands through its in-store displays.
What we saw: An endcap display stocking SKUs from Procter & Gamble’s Vicks, DayQuil and NyQuil offers shoppers who purchase two SKUs from Sept. 1 to March 1 $5 off their next purchase through the retailer’s Register Rewards program (i.e., coupons printed at checkout).
Elsewhere, an endcap stocking Nature Made products from Otsuka Pharmaceutical’s Pharmavite offer myWalgreens members a BOGO deal and also plug a $3 digital coupon for the purchase of two SKUs from Dec. 29 to March 29. A QR code on the header card and shelf trays link to a brand page within Walgreens.com.
Other categories: Also in stores, four-ways stocking Beiersdorf AG’s Eucerin and Aquaphor offer $10 in Walgreens Cash Rewards (i.e., virtual cash added directly to members' accounts) to shoppers who spend $20 on those brands from Nov. 3 to March 1. Price tags on the display dangle a "buy one, get one 50% off" deal on select SKUs.
More context: Walgreens regularly incentivizes bulk purchases, plugging the offers through displays. Last summer, Walgreens used headers affixed to an endcap for Procter & Gamble’s Always and Tampax to offer a $5 store gift card with the purchase of two SKUs from June 30 to Aug. 31. Always was also promoted with SmartSource shelf talkers showcasing the brand’s packaging refresh.
