Ace Hardware enlisted Procter & Gamble for its recent cause campaign benefiting Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. The retailer promised to donate $1 or $2 to the nonprofit (up to $100,000) for every eligible P&G product purchased by Ace Rewards loyalty cardholders in August. A back-page feature in the retailer's July 11 circular touted the promotion and discounts for cardholders on products from Tide, Charmin, Bounty, Mr. Clean, Dawn and Febreze. Endcaps stocking P&G SKUs also supported. In similar activity, a feature in the retailer's July 11 circular presented Berkshire Hathaway's Duracell as a sponsor of the 2017 Ace Cares for Kids fundraiser for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. Both promotions indirectly drummed up support for the retailer's annual bucket event benefitting Children’s Miracle Network. Each year, shoppers that make a $5 donation in stores receive a five-gallon "Helpful Bucket" and 20% off all the items they can fit inside it. The campaign officially ran from Aug. 4-5, but buckets are still available for purchase at some stores through the end of the month, while supplies last. Display ads on websites including denverpost.com, and Twitter and Facebook updates support. The retailer also encouraged stores to create unique displays with the buckets to vie for a $7,500, $5,000 or $2,500 donation to their local hospital. Consumer voting through a promotional website from Aug. 10-15 deterined the winners. Twitter and Facebook updates supported.
