It’s ‘Jingle Cash’ Time of Year at Walgreens

For the seventh time in eight years, Walgreens put a holiday spin on its Register Rewards program by offering next-trip savings to in-store and online shoppers meeting various purchase thresholds.

The “Jingle Cash” program, which the retailer debuted in 2010 and has executed every year since except 2012, ran in two flights. Balance Rewards cardholders who spent $30, $50 or $100 from Nov. 26 to Dec. 2 received next-trip savings of $5, $10 or $20, respectively, that could be redeemed Dec. 3-9. Shoppers making the same required purchases from Dec. 3-9 received savings to be redeemed Dec. 10-16.

Those meeting the requirements in-store received printed coupons at checkout via Catalina’s POS system. Those meeting the requirements with purchases subsequently received an email with a link to clip a digital coupon carrying the rewards to their loyalty accounts.

Walgreens promoted the offer with features in its Nov. 26 and Dec. 3 circulars as well as in-store signage (A-boards at entrances, counter clings and power wing headers), a home page ad and landing page, emails to Balance Rewards members and activity on the retailer’s mobile app.
