Loblaw, Uber Eats Team for On-Demand Grocery Delivery
Loblaw Companies Ltd. is partnering with Uber Technologies Inc. to bring the Canadian retailer's banners to the Uber Eats platform.
The service is available nationwide at all participating banner locations beginning Nov. 12.
Upon launch, customers can shop Loblaw banners Real Canadian Superstore, No Frills, Maxi, Your Independent Grocer, Real Atlantic Superstore, Loblaws, Zehrs, Fortinos, Provigo, Valu-Mart and Shoppers Drug Mart/Pharmaprix.
"Canadians are looking for easy, flexible ways to shop for the things they need most, and we continue to enhance our offerings to meet them," Lauren Steinberg, chief digital officer, Loblaw, said in a media statement. "By bringing our grocery, beauty and health products to Uber's marketplace, we're making it easier for customers to get quality products from the brands they trust, delivered right to their door."
To mark the partnership, Loblaw banners and Uber Eats are offering a number of promotions for all Uber Eats users, with special offers for Uber One members and first-time Uber Eats users.
"Welcoming Loblaw and its banners to the Uber Eats platform is helping us expand our in-app selection so that we can offer Canadians more convenience and access to the brands they trust and rely on every day," Klaas Knieriem, head of retail for Uber Eats in Canada, said in the release.
Loblaw also has its own ordering platform, PC Express, available in many markets, and customers can also order from DoorDash and Instacart in some areas.
