Pillsbury Celebrates Doughboy's Birthday With AR Home Experience
The iconic Pillsbury Doughboy is celebrating his 60th birthday by doing something never done before: bringing fans into his home through an augmented reality (AR) experience.
Known for his famous “Hoo Hoo!”, the beloved character is inviting consumers into his 2,358-square-foot dough-made Modern Doughhouse Revival, which features a giant oven, a living room, a yard, and personal keepsakes.
“Inviting fans to experience the warmth of his home for the first time felt like the perfect way to celebrate this milestone birthday,” said Michelle Odland, vice president and business unit director with Pillsbury, a General Mills brand.
The home made its debut on NBC’s “On Brand with Jimmy Fallon” series during its Oct. 17 episode. Contestants on the show were tasked with creating this interactive activation for Pillsbury, ultimately bringing Pyper Bleu’s winning marketing idea to life. (The episode is available to be streamed on Peacock.)
Visitors can also purchase a collection of nostalgic and limited-edition home items directly through the AR experience, including a Pillsbury Doughboy cookie jar, holiday Pillsbury shape cookie slippers, and a holiday Pillsbury shape cookie glass set.
“Through an immersive experience and limited-edition Pillsbury collectibles, we’re giving people new ways to connect with the Doughboy and bring a touch of his delight and charm into their everyday lives,” Odland added.
Visitors can also explore recipes and historical facts in the various rooms. The home is also listed on Zillow at zillow.com/house/doughplacelikehome, offering a closer look at what makes it so unique and special.
To experience the AR environment, consumers can visit doughplacelikehome.com or scan any can of Pillsbury crescent rolls, biscuits or cinnamon rolls. They can also take a selfie with the Doughboy in the AR experience and share it on the Pillsbury social media accounts.
