A continuous length of transparent plastic rod is fabricated into meaningful numbers, letters, or other shapes whose surfaces are coated with a pigment and/or reflective substance that leaves the portions between the meaningful shapes transparent and not readily visible. As a structure, the unit resembles a neon sign.
