The oversized Whirlpool Fabric Care Center is being tested in several markets. It positions appliances by brand, whereas most competing appliances are grouped in generic rows.

"What caught my eye with these two simple displays was that they merchandised very similar products in different ways, and both worked just fine.
     The Con-Tact display on the bottom is a typical mass merchandiser power wing with an integrated header. Nice color graphics combine with minimal copy to tell the story and let the product sell itself. The vertical format is somewhat unusual, but it really works well for the marketer, which needs to show several different patterns in such a limited space.
