       An overhead cigarette merchandising device is designed for use at checkout counters. The device is comprised of several lowerable wire cages, each mounted on guide wire in a frame and each having a resilient slide that is movable vertically along the guide wire. By exerting sufficient manual downward force, the operator can lower the cage for loading.

    A shelving and/or display unit has a pair of spaced-upright members for supporting shelves, each having spaced front and rear legs with shelf supports extending between the legs of each upright. Each shelf support has an inwardly extending intermediate offset portion which is adapted to be engaged by a downward extending flange extending laterally on each side of the shelf. Shelf hooks detachably lock and support the shelf on the shelf supports.
